Rich, You are so right about this. I called them up one night to get a quote. I carry limits of $$500,000. The maximum GEICO would offer me was $100,000 per person/ $300,000 per accident for bodily injury and $50,000 for property damage. The rep then went on to tell me I'd never need that much coverage anyway. How could that person predict whether or not I'd ever be sued for a million dollars? How dare that person, for the sake of making a sale, expose my house, my savings and all of my other assets to these infinitely greedy trial attorneys?

I was talking to a friend of mine who works in management at an insurance company based in upstate NY recently and he told me that many of the "real" insurance companies are thinking of filing a class action againt GEICO because their underinsured motorist losses have skyrocketed due to all these "direct" insurance customers having minimal coverage.

This woman, "Flo" who works for Progressive is another classic example of this. When she goes on TV, bats her pretty little eyes, and tells people to "name their own price" she is in effect telling them to reduce coverages to get the premium to where they want it. An uneducated and unsuspecting consumer who doesn't understand the need for adequate liability limits is indeed setting themselves up for bankruptcy.

People need trusted advisors like you or me when they make these very important financial decisions.
